Stephen Dunham

President/CEO

Stephen has specialized in high-technology consumable products for the water treatment industry since 1991. For fourteen years he served as President/CEO of Professional Water Technologies, Inc., which he founded in 1995. In 2009, PWT was acquired by H2O Innovation, based in Quebec Canada. Stephen received his BA in Business Communications from the University of California at San Diego.

Dr. J. R. “Randy” Cooper

Chief Technology Officer

Dr. Cooper founded Ultraviolet Sciences, now NeoTech Aqua Solutions, in 2002. During his career, he held the positions of Vice President of Engineering and Development at PurePulse Technologies and Vice President of Engineering at TEAL Electronics. Dr. Cooper received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Texas Tech University in 1986. Since then, he has engineered and produced numerous innovative products including the NeoTech Aqua Solutions line of UV equipment.

Larry Pelegrin

Vice President Global Business Development

Larry Pelegrin has served the water treatment industry for over 30 years as Vice President Sales Mega Projects Division of Energy Recovery Inc., VP Sales & Marketing for Pump Engineering, and VP Sales & Marketing for Hydranautics. Prior to Hydranautics, Larry served as VP Sales & Marketing for US Filter and was the Manager, Desalination for Permasep line of products for DuPont. He currently is a member of and serves on the Board of Directors for the IDA and is a member of the American Membrane Technology Association. He holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Christian Brothers University in Memphis, Tennessee.

George Diefenthal

Technical Sales Manager

Prior to his employment at NeoTech Aqua Solutions in 2007, George was the Logistics Manager at General Atomic, Electronic Systems Inc. and consulted for a variety of clients including Oliver Wight Company and Caterpillar, Inc. George served as VP Operations for PurePulse Technologies from 1998-2001 and earned his B.S. in Electrical Engineering as well as his M.B.A. from San Diego State University.

Gwynne Cavender

Microbiologist

Gwynne has worked extensively with bacterial populations in water and performs all the microbiological testing for NeoTech Aqua Solutions. Prior to NeoTech Aqua, Gwynne developed and executed protocols to grow, detect, and enumerate several different bacterial species in addition to teaching classes for the Biology Department at San Diego State University. She received her Masters of Science in Microbiology from San Diego State University where her thesis involved studying the long-term dynamics of Escherichia coli wild-type and O157:H7 in predator-free seawater.

John Scheffler

Electro-Mechanical Technician

John manages the manufacturing and testing of NeoTech Aqua’s product line and oversees R&D prototype fabrication and assembly. Prior to his employment at NeoTech Aqua Solutions in 2007, John specialized in the testing, calibration, and logistics of military aviation electronics at NAS North Island in San Diego. During his service in the US Navy, John served duty aboard the USS Peleliu, an amphibious assault warship, where he was responsible for the electronics maintenance and service of 35 military aircraft.

Melissa Fay

Office Manager

Melissa has over 10 years experience in office management and over 20 years experience in customer service. Prior to joining Neotech Aqua Solutions, Inc. in 2009, she was general manager at Wireless Data Services, Inc, specializing in accounting, office management and customer logistics. Melissa also served as the customer service manager for ADC-Telecommunications/PCSI, managing the corporate call center, product returns and field service logistics.

Dr. Karl H. Schoenbach

Dr. Schoenbach is an emeritus professor for the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Old Dominion University. He received his Ph.D. in physics and the Dr.rer.nat. Degree in physics in 1966 and 1970, respectively from the Technische Hochschule Darmstadt (THD) in Germany. Dr. Schoenbach has since specialized in high pressure gas discharge physics, the dense plasma focus, and has done extensive research on electron-beam and laser controlled diffuse discharge opening switches. At Old Dominion University, Dr. Schoenbach served as Director of the Frank Reidy Research Center for Bioelectrics researching high-pressure glow discharges, glow (streamer) discharges in liquids, and environmental and medical applications of pulse power technology. He has chaired numerous conferences including the 1991 IEEE International Conference on Plasma Science, and the First International Symposium on “Nonthermal Medial/Biological Treatments Using Electromagnetic Fields and Ionized Gases” (ElectroMed99) in 1999. He was elected Fellow of IEEE in 1994 for “contributions to the research and development of very-high-power electronic devices”, received the 2000 High Voltage Award given by the Dielectric and Electrical Insulation Society of the IEEE, and the Peter Haas Pulsed Power Award in 2007. He has published over 400 papers in refereed journals and in conference proceedings and holds 15 patents. Dr. Schoenbach has been an associate editor of the IEEE Transactions on Plasma Science since 1989, guest editor of the IEEE Transactions on Electron-Devices, the IEEE Transactions on Plasma Science, and the IEEE Transactions on Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation. He is co-editor of books on “Low Temperature Plasma Physics” (2001 and 2007) and on “Atmospheric Pressure Air Plasmas” (2004).

Kathleen M. Trauth, Ph.D., P.E.

Dr. Trauth is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Missouri and is a licensed professional engineer in New Mexico and Missouri. She received her B.S. in Civil Engineering from Ohio State University and her M.S. and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Texas Tech University. Dr. Trauth has focused her research and expertise on surface water quality and related environmental implications and instructs courses on surface water hydrology, hydraulics, water quality modeling and environmental regulatory compliance. Dr. Trauth previously held the position of Senior Member of the Technical Staff at Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, NM and has served as a project engineer in a wastewater construction program at the New Mexico Environment Department.

Paul O’Callaghan

Mr. O’Callaghan is the founder and CEO of O2 Environmental Inc., a Director with Ionic Water Technologies, and an industry expert reviewer for both Sustainable Development Canada and the Innovative Clean Energy Fund. Mr. O’Callaghan is a BlueTech investment analyst and author in the water sector for Global Water Intelligence. He specializes in the development and commercialization of a range of environmental technologies including nutrient recovery processes, UV disinfection, sludge destruction and energy efficient aeration technologies. Mr. O’Callaghan holds a Masters Degree in Water Resource Management and has fourteen years experience in the environmental technology industry. He has lectured on Sustainable Energy at the BC Institute of Technology and on Environmental Protection Technology at Kwantlen University Polytechnic in Vancouver, has authored and presented numerous papers relating to emerging treatment technologies and is currently Chair of a British Columbia technical committee on wastewater treatment. Mr. O’Callaghan is an active member of the Water Environment Federation (WEF) and the International Water Association (IWA).

Bertrand W. Dussert, Ph.D

Dr. Bertrand Dussert is the President of Dussert Consulting, specializing in water and wastewater treatment systems including UV disinfection, UV/ozone, chlorine dioxide, chlorine, advanced oxidation processes (AOPs), and physical processes such as activated carbon and membrane separation. Dr. Dussert is first-named inventor or co-inventor in five water technology patents and is the author of over 50 technical papers. He is currently President of the International Ultraviolet Association (IUVA) and has served on the IUVA Board of Directors since 2001. He was also the Chair of the IUVA Manufacturers’ Council and the Global Product Manager of UV technologies at Siemens Water Technologies where he led, developed and implemented product & business strategies worldwide for ultraviolet (UV) technologies used for the municipal, industrial, commercial and residential markets. Dr. Dussert has an M.S. in Chemistry from UniversitŽ Claude Bernard, Lyon 1 (France), and completed his Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from the Institut National des Sciences Appliquees de Toulouse (France). His Ph.D. research, focusing on the oxidation of refractory aromatic compounds, was carried out at the Research Center of Suez Environment (Paris, France).
